# Singularity Update on Oscar

Please see below regarding the upcoming CCV maintenance work. Should you need more technical details regarding the maintenance, please refer to our Q&A forum or [CCV’s status page](https://status.ccv.brown.edu).

**Maintenance Window:**

- Tuesday, August 25, 2020; 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

**Maintenance Description:**

- Due to a major security vulnerability [CVE-2020-13847](https://github.com/hpcng/singularity/security/advisories/GHSA-m7j2-9565-4h9v), the Singularity RPMs will be updated from current version 3.4.2 to version 3.6.0.

**Expected Impact:**

- Who is impacted:
  - Users leveraging Singularity containers on Oscar.

- What services are impacted:
  - Running jobs leveraging Singularity binaries might be incomplete/canceled while RPMs are being upgraded.
  - Singularity binaries will be unavailable during this maintenance period.

**Instructions to follow:**

- After maintenance please verify your Singularity images. Some users might need to rebuild their images if they no longer work with the new Singularity version.
