# SMB Maintenance

Please see below regarding the upcoming CCV maintenance work. Should you need more technical details regarding the maintenance, please refer to our Q&A forum or [CCV’s status page](https://status.ccv.brown.edu/)

**Maintenance Window:**

- Thursday, August 13, 2020; 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

**Maintenance Description:**

- the GPFS packages will be updated on SMB hosts.

**Expected Impact:**

- Who is impacted:
  - SMB users who access OSCAR locally via the network drive on Windows, Finder on Macs, or Linux.

- What services are impacted:
  - SMB service
  - Note: the secondary mount [oscarcifs.ccv.brown.edu](https://docs.ccv.brown.edu/oscar/connecting-to-oscar/cifs) will no longer be available as of September 1, 2020. Please begin utilizing the SMB service as soon as possible
