How do I renew my Campus Champions allocation?

How can I renew my Campus Champions allocation under ACCESS?
(discussed in the Campus Champions chat on January 10, 2023)

Starting from the main ACCESS page- https://access-ci.org

On the left of the top blue nav bar, click ALLOCATIONS, which will take you to https://allocations.access-ci.org. Click “Manage allocations” and select “Manage my projects” from the drop down.

If you are not logged in, click the blue AUTHENTICATE WITH CILOGIN box. That takes you to the login page. Your XSEDE login and password will work, even if you have not used ACCESS pages yet. Accept the DUO push notification.

You should see your Campus Champions allocation as “Campus Champions TRAXXXXX Lastname”. Now from here on is iffy…since I already did this, I can’t see exactly what you would see! But here goes, please correct or add as you go along!:

Click the box with “Choose New Action” and hopefully they have something like “Renew”. That will take you to a form asking some basic questions, like “Reason for Renewal”. Under ‘Available Resources’, click the box for ACCESS Credits. Request 1,500,000 credits, as that is the maximum for Discovery level.

I think your CV and a Main Project Description are required documents. Make sure you click the yellow to ‘Add New Document’. There is a link to either save or to submit. If you save, later on you can go to that Manage my Projects page and click “edit”.

I made a main document that had what I wrote for “Reason for renewal”. To get text for that, I used the information left over from my previous allocation…later, you can use this to get an idea of how many credits to exchange for based on previous request, which was the maximum SUs for startup requests for that provider.

To find ‘what did I do before’…Go to the same page you got after doing “Manage allocations:Manage my projects”. Then click the link for your allocation, which is that “Campus Champions TRAXXXXXX Lastname”.

My Credits were approved very quickly. They give half of the requested credits. (750,000)

I’ll write something up later about the experience with Transferring credits.

My CC renewal was up right around the time of the transition from XSEDE. Given that we had little information at the time, I had originally requested only 400,000 credits (and received half). The response time was pretty quick but I found, at the time, the transfer requests were not as timely. Everyone was new at it at the time so I can’t complain there. I haven’t distributed my credits across all my requested resources as of yet. One issue I had at the time was I had no mechanism to see my running balance as I was requesting transfers. I’ll admit that I haven’t checked in a while, so I don’t know if there was a change here and such a feature now exists.

Following up on my own response from January, I noticed the transfer page now lists available credits.
