Oscar Maintenance Complete

Oscar Users,

Oscar maintenance is now complete and the cluster has been returned to full production. Please read this carefully as we have made significant changes.

  1. The public key has changed. Please run the following command on your local machine(s) to update the known_hosts file.

Linux/Mac users:
ssh-keygen -R “ssh.ccv.brown.edu

Windows users:
When PuTTY displays the warning message, click Yes to update PuTTY’s cache with the new RSA keys.

  1. Oscar will now be requiring DUO authentication in order to login:

  2. After entering your AD password you will be prompted to Duo two-factor authentication

  3. Your current SSH key pairs will continue to work

  4. All user IDs have been migrated to the Active Directory (AD). The password will be the same as used for other Brown Services.

Note - File ownership is now changed to AD UID, if you have issues accessing files please let us know and we will address it with utmost priority.

  1. MPI Applications - We have upgraded to SLURM 20.02.6, which is a significant upgrade and requires MPI applications to be rebuilt. For your convenience here is the list of the latest MPI modules. If you have custom requirements or run into any issues, please email support@ccv.brown.edu

  2. We are seeing high latency numbers with multi-node MPI jobs. We are actively working with Mellanox to address this issue.

  3. All jobs in the old queue were deleted, users will need to re-submit jobs.

We appreciate your patience. We have virtual office hours tomorrow, Friday, January 8, 10am -12pm (Join Zoom Meeting), please join if you have any questions.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please contact us at support@ccv.brown.edu

Sincerely,
CCV User Services
