Why is RStudio not displaying plots as expected?

When I open RStudio on Cheaha and attempt to plot data, my plots are not being displayed as expected, or not at all. What is going on and how can I fix it?

One of two things is going on.

  1. The version of RStudio is not compatible with the version of R used when starting the job. This is the likely cause if you see "Warning message: R graphics engine version 14 is not supported by this version of RStudio. The Plots tab will be disabled until a newer version of RStudio is installed.". To fix the issue, try selecting a newer version of RStudio when creating the job.

  2. An unknown or non-specific issue with your RStudio workspace. Please try deleting the folder .rstudio in your home directory, if it exists. Also try deleting .local/share/rstudio in your home directory.
